The Fragrance

Rose Graffiti pays tribute to a mural created in 1981 in the patio of the Hôtel Les Bains in Paris by a pioneer of New York graffiti. Perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena composed this fragrance in a synesthetic way, translating the artwork’s colors, textures, and light into olfactory accords rather than starting from a list of ingredients. The fragrance opens with a juicy burst of passion fruit and mandarin, before revealing a heart of May rose (centifolia) and Damask rose, resting on a base of precious musk that is soft and slightly woody. The result is an unconventional rose: tender, insolent, radiant, and slightly electric, echoing the urban art that inspired it. Rose Graffiti belongs to the house’s "Forms & Materials" collection, which explores the architectural details and materials of the legendary Les Bains.

Les Bains Guerbois, a French perfume house, tells the saga of a Haussmann jewel. This building has embodied the history of artistic and intellectual Paris since its inauguration in 1885. It symbolizes the freedom, avant-garde and glamour of the City of Light.

The Perfumer

Jean-Claude Ellena prefers ellipsis to emphasis. Born in Grasse into a family of perfumers, he joined Antoine Chiris at the age of sixteen, where he learned about raw materials through contact with the old masters.

His olfactory style seeks clarity, movement, and the right emotion. Each formula seems stripped of the superfluous in order to let its central idea breathe. Former exclusive perfumer for Hermès, he approaches his craft with the precision of an artisan and the sensitivity of a writer.
