This daring and sultry fragrance demands attention. A bright opening of elemi, bergamot and cypress is warmed by tagetes (a type of marigold). The summery, citrus entrance pivots quickly to reveal a darker side: a spicy, smoky cedar and incense heart, full of depth and warmth. Dry woods crackle alongside aromatic incense, flecks of cumin glow like embers and the composition simmers with anticipation.     In ancient times, Capua was the heart of the Roman fragrance industry. Ingredients collected across the empire from flowers, herbs and spices, vegetable and nut oils, animal-derived ingredients such as musk and ambergris were blended by perfumers in the city and bought and sold in Seplasia, Capua’s most prominent perfume market. Capua the perfume pays homage to this city, responsible for much of the perfume production which the Romans would have enjoyed as oils and unguents, fragrantly scenting their daily lives, much in the same way that we utilise precious ingredients today to create the highest quality fragrances.
