The Fragrance

This authentic Eau Fraîche opens with a bang, citrus and herbs flowing in an invigorating breeze. A jasmine veil spiced with cardamom softly sings a woody chypre melody. Whip was created in 1953, just before the tidal wave of Eaux Fraîches (a more tenacious take on cologne) that many other brands launched afterwards. At the time, men were still wary about wearing perfume, and thus Paul Vacher made sure to add a dash of masculine vigour to this incredibly fresh and easy-to-wear fragrance. Soon enough, women adopted it too, making it genderless. Olfactive signature: Cardamom and its cold spiced aroma, which adds another layer of refreshing energy.

The Brand

Founded in 1930, Le Galion embodies a certain idea of high perfumery, where elegance is expressed through the precision of compositions and the nobility of materials.

Gone for several decades, Le Galion was reborn in 2014 with the ambition of creating a dialogue between its heritage and contemporary creation. Its collections bring historical signatures such as Snob, Brumes, and Vétyver back to life, while also welcoming new olfactory interpretations. Its faceted bottle, designed in an Art Deco spirit, extends this singular identity.

Le Galion cultivates a personality that is at once free, assertive, and timeless. The House favors fragrances with character, endowed with a true presence, expressing a singular vision of French elegance. Its independent spirit, its attachment to tradition, and its taste for expressive compositions give it a distinctive identity, apart from fleeting trends.

The Perfumer

Trained in Versailles and then in Grasse, Jean-Michel Duriez practiced his art at Jean Patou and Rochas before founding his own house.

His olfactory signature is rooted in the art of translating emotions and memories into fragrances, combining technical precision, sensitivity, and a search for balance. Attentive to the nuances of raw materials and their evocative power, he conceives each perfume as a sensory experience capable of bringing back a presence, a place, or a forgotten moment.

A vision he sums up as follows: “I do not create perfumes, I make memories.”
