For this new interpretation, Julien Rasquinet chose to elevate the aldehydes by giving them a creamier, more enveloping texture. Timur pepper adds a sparkling vibration and contemporary radiance, while the floral heart evolves into a more refined and powderier expression, built around the timeless elegance of iris. The floral animality that defined the original composition is transformed into a softer, muskier sensuality, evoking the feel of a luxurious fur coat against the skin. Remaining faithful to the spirit of Sortilège, Julien Rasquinet preserves the fragrance's unique tension between dazzling aldehydes and unapologetic animality. He also infuses it with his own olfactive signature—rich in power and depth—creating an intense, captivating, and addictive trail worthy of the legendary aura of Paul Vacher's original Sortilège. Created by Julien Rasquinet in 2026, Sortilège L’ESSENCE reinterprets Paul Vacher’s legendary 1936 Sortilège, preserving its unique tension between dazzling aldehydes and animalic sensuality while bringing it into the present day. Olfactive signature: Fur accord, transforming the animality of the original Sortilège into a softer, musky sensuality against the skin.

The Perfumer

Born into a family with a passion for scents, Julien Rasquinet discovered the olfactory riches of nature at a very early age.

After graduating from business school, he changed direction after meeting one of France's greatest perfumers, Pierre Bourdon, who passed on his know-how and artistic vision, inherited from his own master, Edmond Roudnitska.

He creates fragrances that reflect his taste for orientalism, combining spicy, woody, amber and floral notes. He also likes to play with contrasts and unexpected combinations.
