Leather perfume, the leather family

The leather family evokes worked leather: tanned hide, a jacket, saddle leather. Leather does not exist as a natural raw material in perfumery. Perfumers recreate it with accords, for example from birch tar, styrax or labdanum.

The facets of leather

Suede leather is soft, supple and powdery. Smoky leather, from birch tar, is drier and darker. Each house chooses its own nuance.

Leather is unisex. For women, it is often softened by flowers such as iris or rose, or by powdery and vanilla notes.
