Tea and perfume have the ability to energize or calm, to make radiant or focused and encourage the inner discovery. A person in harmony with himself, develops a new form of energy, becomes a center of attraction.

STATE OF MIND makes you discover perfumery from a new angle: as an olfactory expression of inspiration, generosity, effrontery, courage or curiosity.

The Story

"My beloved grandmother often told me about China, the Wall of Nine Dragons, the Great Wall, gardens, calligraphy, acupuncture, the lotus flower opening in a cup of tea, the scents and colors of tea shops...

Through her wonderful stories, I traveled to a magical world filled with the tastes of teas and fragrant gardens. Fulfilling her childhood dream, Catherine started her journey in fragrance. Only to come up against the idea of globalization, which restrained the creative spirit of perfumers.

It was the emergence of artistic perfumery that inspired Catherine to create her own brand STATE OF MIND. She wanted to offer a completely different experience, where the choice of fragrance is elevated to the level of a ceremony."

The Founder

Catherine Laskine-Balandina is particularly fond of 2 proverbs, one from China, "tea is a scent to drink, life is contained in a bowl of tea" and one from Japan, "tea symbolizes Chi, the flow of all living things". Catherine’s vision of life is very much derived from her can do attitude. It is all about believing in oneself, in what one does. Confidence brings an immense pleasure in doing things and in doing them well. To realize her synesthetic project, Catherine called on 3 extraordinary professionals: a tea taster, Olivier Scala, a perfumer, Karine Dubreuil-Sereni and an illustrator, Elena Minenko.​

Fanfarone Italiano, a luxury gourmet coffee fragrance that embodies rebellious carelessness, frivolity and inexhaustible energy.

The top notes, that we perceive first, are fruity: Blackcurrant and Neroli, they bring an exquisite freshness to the perfume. They are then complemented by the captivating power of the middle notes – the intense scents of Coffee and Chocolate, accompanied by Tonka Beans and Vanilla. Finally come the base notes - Cognac and Walnut Alcohol, which underline its intoxicating and mystery side. There is also a woody facet with a little Patchouli and Cedar. As the hours pass, you will notice how the different notes blend and evolve, creating a complex, multi-faceted fragrance.
